Gbets App South Africa Review 2026: Download, Welcome Bonus and Lucky Numbers
The Gbets app is the mobile side of Gbets, which calls itself the betting arm of the Goldrush gaming group, and its site dates itself back to 2014. One account covers soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis and basketball betting, a Slots Hub, live dealer games, Aviator, BetGames TV and lucky numbers. Gbets holds a Western Cape bookmaker licence and a Mpumalanga one, and it has an app for all three kinds of phone: an Android APK from its own site, an iPhone app on the App Store and a Huawei version through AppGallery. It suits soccer punters who build multis, and anyone who likes to top up with a voucher bought at a shop till.
New players start with 50 free spins and a R50 free bet, and the deposit matches that follow can add up to R21,000 over four deposits. Those matches carry several conditions, so we go through them one at a time with a worked example. To compare Gbets with the other licensed operators, see our guide to the best betting apps.

Using the Gbets app
We opened gbets.co.za as an iPhone 15 on a South African connection, logged out, to see how it is laid out.
The first screen shows the Gbets.co.za logo, a promotions slider, the line Get Your Game On and three large tiles for Live Games, Slots and Aviator. Scroll down and a second row brings Lucky Numbers, Live Sports and Sports, so every part of Gbets is one tap from the home screen. Below the tiles sit banners for featured slots, an Our Providers strip with Evolution, Creedroomz and other studios, and the Android App, App Store and AppGallery buttons that appear at the foot of every page.
On our logged-out phone the header showed only the logo, so the tiles are the way in. To find a game, tap its section tile, then a provider banner or a featured game. The sportsbook on sports.gbets.co.za opens with two tabs, Sport and Live Sports.
How to download the Gbets app
The download buttons sit at the foot of every page on gbets.co.za: one for Android, one for Apple and one for Huawei. Use those buttons rather than searching an app store, so you know you are getting the real thing.
Android
Gbets gives Android users the app as a file called an APK, straight from its own site.
- Open gbets.co.za in Chrome on your phone.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap the Android App button.
- When the file has downloaded, open it.
- If your phone asks, allow Chrome to install apps from this source, then tap Install.
- Open the Gbets app and sign in or sign up to bet on sport, slots or lucky numbers.
Android may warn you that the file comes from outside the Play Store. You can go ahead as long as the file came from gbets.co.za itself.
iPhone and Huawei
On an iPhone, tap the App Store button on the Gbets site and it takes you to the Gbets listing, where you install it like any other app. The listing shows version 1.5, last updated on 24 August 2023, a download of about 7 MB that needs iOS 13.0 or later, a 17+ age rating and an average of about 3 stars from 31 ratings. The seller is Goldrush Group (Pty) Ltd. On a Huawei phone, tap the AppGallery button and follow the link.
The Gbets welcome offer
Gbets calls its sign-up offer the Welcome Journey. It has applied to new customers since 15 May 2025 and it comes in two parts.
Part one: 50 free spins and a R50 free bet
The 50 free spins are on Gates of Olympus. The R50 free bet works on a single or a multi where every selection is priced at 1.50 or more. To withdraw what you win from the free bet, you need to make a deposit of at least R25 and bet it through once. Gbets’ free bet terms cap what you can withdraw from a free bet at R500, and Cash Out and Edit My Bet do not work on free bets.
Part two: four deposit matches
- First deposit: 100% up to R10,000, split evenly between sport and casino. The sport half is up to R5,000, has to be bet 4 times on multis of three or more legs at odds of 1.50 or higher, and pays out at most 5 times your deposit, capped at R25,000. The casino half is up to R5,000 with 30 times wagering, paying out at most 5 times the bonus, also capped at R25,000.
- Second deposit: 50% up to R3,000 on casino, with 25 times wagering and a cap of R15,000.
- Third deposit: 75% up to R3,000 on casino, with 25 times wagering and a cap of R15,000.
- Fourth deposit: 100% up to R5,000 on casino, with 25 times wagering and a cap of R25,000.
The casino bonuses only count on games from NetEnt, Netgames, Red Tiger, Booming, Pragmatic Play and EGT. You claim each one from the Bonuses section of your account before you deposit, and the bonus money shows in a gold bar under your real balance.
What the numbers mean
Take a R1,000 first deposit. You get R500 of sport bonus and R500 of casino bonus. The sport half needs R2,000 of qualifying multi bets before it converts, and the most it can pay out is 5 times your deposit, which is R5,000. The casino half needs R15,000 of spins on the qualifying games, and the most it can pay out is 5 times the bonus, which is R2,500. At the full R5,000 on each half, the sport side needs R20,000 of bets and the casino side needs R150,000 of spins.
Worth knowing: while any bonus is still active in your bonus wallet, Gbets allows no withdrawal from your account at all, including your own deposit.
Other figures in the same terms
The same terms page gives different figures for some of these conditions in different clauses. The deposit match section gives payout caps of R15,000 and R25,000, while a later clause caps winnings from the deposit match bonuses at R10,000 after conversion, and another says that once the wagering is met, at most the bonus amount issued moves to your real money wallet and the rest of the winnings are forfeited. One line says a bonus expires five days after you activate it, and another says it stays available for 10 days. The later section also sets minimum odds of 0.70 for the deposit match, where the sport half asks for 1.50 per leg.
Before you claim, open the terms shown on the bonus in your account and ask Gbets’ 24/7 live chat which cap and expiry apply to you. Plan on the lower cap and the shorter expiry until they confirm.
Other Gbets promotions
- Weekly cashback: up to 10% back on your sport and casino losses, paid twice a week, on Monday for Thursday to Sunday and on Thursday for Monday to Wednesday. You qualify once you have deposited at least R1,000 and played in the period, and it is only paid once it reaches R100, so at the full 10% that takes R1,000 of losses.
- 2 Up, Early Payout: your soccer bet pays out early when your team goes two goals ahead
- Multi Soccer Bonus: up to 600% extra on the winnings of a soccer multi, starting at 3% for three legs, with every leg at odds of 1.30 or more. Singles, in-play bets and outrights do not count, cashing out loses the boost, and the bonus win is capped at R600,000.
- Multibet Bundles for soccer multis
- 7 Leg Saver: for tennis multis of 7 or more match winner picks. If only the last leg loses, you get 50% of your stake back, up to R500, within 24 hours, from a minimum stake of R10, so a R100 stake returns R50.
- Howzat Multi Leg: for cricket multis of three or more legs at R200 or more
- 3-Goal Shield: your full stake back, up to R500, on a soccer single of R50 or more if your team loses by 3 goals or more, refunded within 12 hours of the result.
- NBA promotion for basketball punters
Each has its own terms. There is also a birthday bonus once you have made four or more deposits totalling at least R100. It has to be bet 3 times at odds of 0.50 or more, expires two days after you claim it, and winnings from it are capped at R1,000.
How to sign up on Gbets
- Open the app and tap Sign Up.
- Fill in your details. Gbets’ terms list full names, residential address, gender, date of birth, email address and telephone number among what it collects, and it only opens accounts with South African addresses, contact details and bank accounts.
- Be ready to disclose your source of income, which Gbets’ terms ask for, and note that by registering you agree to identity, credit and source of funds checks.
- Set your password and accept the terms.
- Go to Bonuses in your Account section and claim the welcome offer before you make your first deposit.
You must be 18 or older, and Gbets can ask for FICA documents at any time after you register, which the banking section below covers.
Sports betting on the Gbets app
Soccer is the centre of the Gbets sportsbook, with the PSL, the Premier League, La Liga and international football all covered. Rugby, cricket, tennis and basketball are there too. The features Gbets itself highlights are:
- Super Bet: you can ask Gbets for boosted odds on a bet you want to place
- Bet Builder: combine several markets from one match on one slip
- Cash Out: settle a bet before the match ends, usually for less than the full return
- Multi-bet boosts: the home page lists up to 30% extra on multis, and the Multi Soccer Bonus terms above give up to 600% on soccer multis
- Boosted odds on selected soccer matches each week
- Follow My Team and Top Stats for keeping track of your side and its recent form
Bets placed with bonus money cannot be cashed out or edited, so keep that in mind if you like to take a profit early.
Live betting
The Live Sports page carries in-play odds and live score updates under its Overview tab. The page names no live stream among its tools, and Gbets says that with them you will not need live streaming. Gbets’ general terms set payout limits of R2m on sport and R5m on lucky numbers.
How to place a bet on the Gbets app
- Tap the Sports or Live Sports tile on the home screen.
- Pick a match and tap the odds you want, which adds that selection to your bet slip.
- Add more selections for a multi. For the Multi Soccer Bonus, every leg needs odds of 1.30 or more.
- Enter your stake and place the bet. Bets placed with bonus money cannot be cashed out or edited.
The game lobby: slots, live games and lucky numbers
Slots
The Slots Hub is the casino side of the app. When we looked, the home page featured Gates of Olympus Super Scatter and Sugar Rush 1000 from Pragmatic Play, and the Slots Hub opened on provider banners for SkyPilot, Hacksaw, Revolver, Amusnet and PopOK. Gbets’ general terms list studios including NetEnt, Red Tiger, Pragmatic Play, Big Time Gaming, No Limit City, Hacksaw, Yggdrasil, Spinomenal, EGT and Amusnet, and its blog reported 142 new slots when Funky Games, Betsoft, Bluprint and Now Now joined.
Live games
The Live Games section lists blackjack, roulette, poker and baccarat tables, among them Creedroomz Blackjack, Free Bet Blackjack, Speed Blackjack, XXXtreme Lightning Roulette, Instant Roulette Live, 2 Hand Casino Hold’Em, Bet on Poker, Baccarat Super 6 and Creedroomz Sic Bo. Evolution and Creedroomz are both among the studios in Gbets’ general terms.
Crash games, lucky numbers and BetGames
Aviator from Spribe sits under Crash Games and has its own tile on the home screen, and Gbets’ blog says it has added PopOK Gaming, a studio known for slots, crash games and instant games. BetGames TV is also among the providers in the general terms.
Lucky Numbers has its own tile on the home screen, and there you bet on the numbers drawn in lottery-style draws. Gbets’ general terms also carry the rules for Golden Race Live Keno, a draw game played with 80 numbered balls. Note that the welcome deposit matches cannot be used on lucky numbers or live games.
Deposits and withdrawals
Paying in
Gbets’ banking page is built around vouchers, which suits anyone who prefers to pay cash at a till:
- OTT Voucher: sold at stores including Boxer, Makro, Game and Kazang traders
- 1ForYou Voucher: sold at PEP, Ackermans, Shoprite, Checkers, OK, Usave, House & Home and Flash traders
- Blu Voucher: sold at fuel stations including Total, Sasol, Engen, Shell, bp and Caltex
- Bank deposit: Gbets publishes accounts at FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank and Absa for direct payments
For a bank deposit, use your User ID as the reference and send the proof of payment to support@gbets.co.za. The banking page lists vouchers and bank deposits, and a deposit of R25 is the smallest that qualifies for the welcome matches.
Cashing out
The smallest withdrawal is R50, and Gbets’ general terms describe withdrawals by EFT, paid only to the same bank account your deposits came from and only in the name of the account holder. Gbets makes the transfer within 24 hours of confirming the money is available, and that 24 hours does not include the time your bank takes to clear it. Before any withdrawal, your deposit has to be bet through at least once at odds of 1.5 or more, and a deposit of R10,000 or more needs proof that it came from your own account. The App Store listing mentions instant deposit and withdrawal channels, so check the withdrawal screen in the app for the options open to you.
FICA
Before you withdraw, Gbets can ask for a valid ID, Smart ID card or passport, proof of address no older than three months, and a bank statement or proof of bank account no older than three months. You can upload them or email them. Our FICA guide for betting accounts explains how to get each document right the first time.
Gbets licence and safety: is the app legal in South Africa?
Yes. Gbets is run by Dymanex (Pty) Ltd and licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board under licence 10179096-014, with a second licence in Mpumalanga, number 9-2-1-09553. Both numbers are printed at the foot of every page on the Gbets site. Dymanex (Pty) Ltd appears on the Western Cape board’s own list of licensed bookmakers. Gbets’ general terms also give a second Western Cape licence number, 10195528-001, and list some game studios as approved by the Northern Cape Gambling Board via Gbets Kathu, with bets on those games assigned to the Northern Cape. Disputes about bets go through the Gbets dispute procedure, which is regulated by the Western Cape board.
Customer support
Gbets’ responsible gaming page offers live chat 24/7, and questions and complaints can go by email to onlinesupport@gbets.co.za. The footer gives a phone number, +27 021 480 7400, an office in Parow and a physical address in Roodepoort.
Responsible gambling tools
Gbets offers a time-out option and self-exclusion. To self-exclude, you download the National Gambling Board form from the Gbets responsible gaming page, fill it in and email it to onlinesupport@gbets.co.za. Once excluded, your account stays closed for at least six months and the request cannot be reversed. To have it lifted after 6 months or more, Gbets asks for proof of counselling by a certified medical practitioner.
Gbets against Supabets, Hollywoodbets and Betway
| Operator | Welcome offer | Apps | Cash top-ups |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gbets | 50 free spins and a R50 free bet, then four deposit matches up to R21,000 | Android APK, iPhone and Huawei | OTT, 1ForYou and Blu vouchers |
| Supabets | R50 free bet and 100 free spins, then up to R5,000 over three deposits | Android APK, with iPhone and Huawei listed as coming soon | Vouchers and cash at a Supabets branch |
| Hollywoodbets | R25 sign-up bonus and 50 free spins on Spina Zonke | Android, iPhone and Huawei | Holly Top Up Vouchers and cash at a branch |
| Betway | Rolling promotions and the Free Bet Club’s R50 weekly free bets | Android, iPhone and Huawei | 1ForYou, OTT and Kazang vouchers, and cash at an FNB ATM |
Gbets has an app on all three kinds of phone, as Hollywoodbets and Betway do, while Supabets lists its iPhone and Huawei apps as coming soon. Like Hollywoodbets and Supabets, Gbets gives you something before you deposit, in its case 50 free spins and a R50 free bet, and it adds soccer tools such as Super Bet and the Multi Soccer Bonus. Its group, Goldrush, says it runs over 60 Gbets retail outlets. Our Supabets app review, Betway app review and Hollywoodbets app review go through each of them in the same detail.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Every phone: an app on Android, iPhone and Huawei
- No-deposit start: 50 free spins and a R50 free bet before you deposit anything
- Soccer tools: Super Bet, Bet Builder, Cash Out, the Multi Soccer Bonus and the 3-Goal Shield
- Cash top-ups: OTT, 1ForYou and Blu vouchers at supermarkets, clothing stores and fuel stations
- Licensed: Western Cape and Mpumalanga licences, both printed on every page
Cons
- More than one figure: the bonus terms give different caps and expiry periods in different clauses
- Bonus locks withdrawals: nothing can be withdrawn while a bonus is active
- Casino wagering: 30 times on the first casino match, which is R15,000 of spins on a R500 bonus
- One way to withdraw: the terms describe EFT to the account you deposited from
- Older iPhone app: the App Store version was last updated on 24 August 2023
Who the Gbets app suits and who should look elsewhere
Gbets suits a soccer punter who builds multis and wants boosts on them, and who is happy to top up with a voucher. It also suits iPhone and Huawei users, since Gbets has an app for both.
Look elsewhere if you want a welcome bonus with one set of figures, or a way to withdraw other than EFT to your own bank account. The ranking on our home page lists the other licensed operators we have reviewed.
Our verdict
Gbets is a licensed bookmaker with an app on every kind of phone, soccer tools such as Super Bet, Bet Builder and the Multi Soccer Bonus, and voucher top-ups at shops and fuel stations. The 50 free spins and R50 free bet need no deposit, and withdrawing the free bet winnings takes a R25 deposit bet through once. The deposit matches carry 25 to 30 times wagering on the casino side and the terms give more than one figure for the caps and the expiry, so read the bonus screen in your account before you claim a match. The bonus terms, the EFT-only withdrawals in the general terms and an iPhone app last updated in 2023 are why it sits at 4.1 out of 5.
